Introduction
Famed for creating some of horology’s most important and historically significant chronographs such as the Monaco, Carrera, Autavia and so on, there are a handful of models that seem to escape the attention of the masses even though they are still aesthetically unique, historically interesting, and mechanically impressive. One such example of that is the Montreal. Launched in 1972 and produced until 1982, the Montreal features an unmistakable 1970s design language that has resulted in it existing as a wonderful reminder of days long gone. Boasting a bright blue dial with colorful red and yellow accents alongside the practical utility of its twin subdials, and date at 6 o’clock, the Montreal embodies everything about 1970s Heuer. Fitted with a large cushion-shaped 42mm stainless steel case on a stainless steel bracelet, the Montreal packs an impressive wrist presence that communicates just how brands combined legibility and style to create unique timepieces that could excite those who needed functional tools that said a little something about their personal taste all while delivering on what they needed from a practical perspective.

Condition
The watch is in overall excellent condition. The stainless steel case retains a well-defined sunburst finish on the front, with some light scratches. The polished case sides have some surface scratches, and the case back has light scratches as well. The blue dial is in excellent condition, with some marks on the white seconds track in places, while the sub-dials show slight signs of aging. The bracelet currently fits a 7 1/2” wrist and has 13 links, 2 of which are removable. There is negligible play between the links, and it remains in excellent condition.
Our Perspective
Boasting a unique design with an unusual wrist presence, bright pops of color, and impressive engineering, the Montreal was emblematic of Heuer throughout the 1970s.
