Introduction

Famed for their unique aesthetics and wild designs, Hublot are a brand that have driven the watchmaking industry’s ever-evolving expectations of what a watch should look like. While it began with their “Art of Fusion” movement in the 1980s by combining precious metals with rubber straps, their modern day watches continue to be aesthetically and visually unique, much like this Big Bang "King Power Alinghi”. Launched in 2010 in collaboration with the Alinghi sail team, this watch was inspired by Alinghi’s Defender Yacht, which raced in the America’s Cup. Unveiled by Ernesto Bertarelli and Hublot’s CEO at the time, watchmaking visionary Jean Claude Biver, the Big Bang "King Power Alinghi” boasts an entirely blacked-out design with a sand-blasted ceramic and titanium case, a black rubber strap and a blacked out dial with Alinghi’s red logo at 9 o’clock that adds a bright punch of color to the stealthy timepiece. Powered by the automatic cal. HUB4400, which is on display behind its exhibition caseback, this unique timepiece carries on Hublot’s tradition of creating visually distinguished timepieces that break from convention and offer something unique and interesting.

THE DIAL

With its blacked-out dial providing a partial view of its inner-workings, the King Power Alinghi's most prominent feature is its red Alinghi logo at 9 o'clock which designates this watch as a limited edition of just 333 pieces.

THE CONSTRUCTION

While its 48mm diameter construction is indeed large, the King Power Alinghi's blacked-out design and lightweight ceramic, titanium and rubber construction combine to slim the watch on the wrist and make it much more palatable than one might assume.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.

Condition

Watch is in excellent overall condition. There are minor signs of wear on the surface, with a few tiny scratches and marks visible on the black surface. Please note, on the caseback at the 3 and 9 sides, this is the result of the watch sticking to the cuff inside the box and not damage on the watch. It will easily wipe off. Watch comes with a service paper from 2021 by Hublot HK.

Our Perspective

A visually complex watch, even with its stealthy design, the King Power Alinghi continues Hublot's tradition for pushing material science and creating timepieces that exceed expectations in every way possible.
