Introduction
Founded in 1994 by designer Marc Newson and entrepreneur Oliver Ike, Ikepod became one of the defining independent watch brands of the late 1990s and early 2000s through its fusion of industrial design and contemporary horology. Characterized by smooth organic forms and highly unconventional case architecture, Ikepod watches stood apart dramatically from the conventions of traditional Swiss watchmaking. The Isopode collection represented the brand’s more compact and streamlined interpretation of this design philosophy, combining minimalist aesthetics with chronometer-certified mechanical movements. Produced in a limited edition of 9,999 pieces and powered by an ETA-based automatic movement, the Isopode captures the futuristic and highly sculptural design language that made early Ikepod watches so influential within modern independent watchmaking.

THE DIAL
The dial embraces Ikepod’s minimalist industrial aesthetic, featuring a highly legible display with clean typography and restrained detailing. Its monochromatic presentation complements the glossy ceramic construction while emphasizing the sculptural qualities that define the Isopode’s overall design.

THE CONSTRUCTION
The Isopode’s smooth rounded case reflects the unmistakable design language of Marc Newson, combining flowing organic forms with an almost architectural simplicity. The seamless integration between the case and bracelet reinforces the model’s futuristic and highly cohesive appearance.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The glossy PVD case shows surface marks, particularly on the rear near the pushers and around where the bracelet joins the case. The case back has well-defined engravings. The crown and pushers are excellent. The dial and hands are near mint. The bracelet shows some wear to the finish in places. The bracelet is fitted with 26 links, 8 of which are removable, and fits approximately a 7½” wrist. Additionally, there are 2 links included. Online research seems to only show matte finished cases on this watch, but the current lot features a glossy finish. It was either an experimental prototype made early in production or an aftermarket treatment.
Our Perspective
This Isopode by Marc Newson is the rare glossy ceramic model, not to be confused with the more common PVD version. Slightly smaller than the other models by Ikepod at the time (37mm vs 44mm+), this reference wears well and looks sharp.
