Debuting in the late 1990s as a sports watch offering, the GST was borne as three different variants, a chronograph, diver’s watch and an alarm model, which is what we have here. As its name cryptically suggests, the GST collection was offered in three metals, Gold, Steel and Titanium, with the gold and steel models available with black or silver dials, and the titanium only available in black. A somewhat mid-level watch, the GST interestingly features a high-end JLC movement, the cal. 916, that IWC would then modify as the IWC cal. 917. A timeless design, the GST boasts an integrated bracelet alongside a round 40mm case with a thin bezel that allows for its dial to be as large as possible. With four hands, it tells the time as one would expect, but with its fourth red-tipped hand, the GST vibrates rather quickly for around 20 seconds whenever its wearer decides. This example boasts a stunning silver dial with beautifully aged tritium lume atop its rose gold hands and hour markers and a distinctive dual-crown system that can be used to set the time, wind the watch, set the date and set its eponymous alarm function. A timepiece filled with practical utility, the GST Alarm will make for a splendid addition to any collection.

Watch is in near mint condition. Some light surface wear, predominately on the polished surfaces. The dial and hands have tritium that has aged to a cream color. Full length bracelet with links that were previously removed included. Please note, the box is very "sticky". The plastic on the surface is very sticky to the touch.

A thoughtfully designed watch, the GST Alarm is just as practical as it is stylish. Proving to be quite timeless, thanks to the popularity of integrated bracelets in the modern watchmaking industry, the GST offers modern sensibilities all the while appealing to neo-vintage ideals.
