Launched in 2018 as an online-only offering, the IWC Pilot’s Chronograph ref. 377724 was created as a modern re-issue of one of IWC’s most iconic neo-vintage offerings, the ref. IW3706. A tritium dialled automatic Valjoux cal. 7750-powered timepiece, the ref. IW3706 has become a pillar of what modern IWC has come to stand for with its pilot’s watch design informing the brand’s modern aesthetic. Celebrating that watch, the ref. IW377724 features many of its design tenets, with its modified Valjoux cal. 7750 movement, the IWC cal. 79320, thin bezel, and robust stainless steel construction. Enlarged from 39mm to 43mm in keeping with IWC’s modern styling, the ref. IW377724 takes neo-vintage inspiration and modernizes it in a powerful way. With fauxtina luminous hour markers and hands, the ref. IW377724 makes its inspiration obvious, with the tritium dials on most original ref. 3706’s now including a subtle creamy luminous patina. Boasting the same squared hour hand as the ref. 3706, one of its most beloved design details, the ref. IW377724 champions IWC’s vintage design language in a way that collectors can truly cherish and appreciate.

The watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case shows some scratches and marks from wear, but no major dings, and the edges remain sharp. The case back shows light signs of wear. The dial and hands are near-mint. The watch is fitted with a military-style fabric strap with a steel IWC-signed buckle in excellent condition. It comes with its box, guarantee, and papers. Please note that the box has degraded slightly and the surface is sticky.

Revisiting one of the brand's most desirable neo-vintage offerings, but with some of the brand's modern twists, such as its increased sizing, the ref. IW377724 showcases IWC's beloved spirit and aesthetic.
