Introduction
Launched in 1948, the Mark XI is deeply rooted in IWC’s history of creating pilot watches such as their variant of the Dirty Dozen that featured as one of the watches made by twelve brands that supplied watches to be worn by ally pilots or their B-Uhr watches worn by the German Luftwaffe. Offered here we have a modern take on the Mark XI with the IW324019, which was launched in 2018 as a collaboration between IWC and Revolution Magazine. Boasting a 36mm bronze case that stands just 10.5mm tall, the IW324019 is a compact timepiece that combines a heritage-inspired design with modernity. Powered by an automatic movement and boasting a dark green dial with Arabic numerals for each of its hour markers in combination with quarter hour luminous indices that form part of the minute scale and bronze hands, the IW324019’s display is that of absolute legibility and style. Limited to only 250 pieces and offered on a reindeer leather strap that was made from reindeer hides that were recovered from a 250 year old Spanish frigate Metta Catharina, that sank from Plymouth Sound in 1786, this watch is imbued with style and history in more ways than one.

THE DIAL
An iconic piece of IWC's brand heritage, the Pilot's dark green no-frills dial exists as a monument to the utility-focused design that the brand's original Pilot's watches had to feature. Adorned with plenty of lume and bronze hands, this example's display ties in with its bronze construction nicely.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Made of bronze and measuring 36mm in diameter, the Pilot's Watch is traditionally on the small side for a pilot's watch, yet it is as rugged and utilitarian as it needs to be, with a modern, luxurious twist.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall near-mint condition. The bronze case remains in near-mint condition but has developed the expected natural patina across its surface. The case back retains crisp engravings and the original IWC case back sticker, showing light signs of wear. The dial and hands are like new. It is fitted with one of the three supplied Revolution-branded NATO-style straps, with heavy patina to the metal hardware. Comes with the inner and outer boxes, warranty card, booklets, Revolution camouflage pouch, and two additional straps.
Our Perspective
Inspired by the brand's rich heritage in the arena of pilots watches, the IW324019 builds upon the foundation of the brand's pilot's watch aesthetic but with the stylistic twist provided by Revolution Magazine in the form of its dark green dial, bronze construction, and lack of a date window.
