Introduction
Launched in 1996 and produced until 2005, the IWC Pilot’s Doppelchronograph was created as IWC’s second generation of pilots watch complete with a split-second chronograph function, after following the ref. 3711. Designed as the perfect pilot's watch, it features a stainless steel case, the automatic IWC cal. 79230 movement housed within a soft-iron anti-magnetic casing (to maintain accurate performance in a cockpit) and a spectacularly legible matte black tritium dial with a rather useful day and date complication to boot. Finely finished with an educated blend of satin and polished finishing across its 42mm stainless steel case, the Doppelchrono was clearly planned to withstand an arduous life of action in their air. A true pilots watch from a true pilots watchmaker, the Doppelchrono is a spectacular piece of fusion between the horology and aviation sectors, in keeping with their famously tight-knit heritage.

THE DIAL
Sporting a tremendously legible dial design, the IW3713 shouts the time at you with its array of Arabic numerals and large luminous hands.
THE CONSTRUCTION
A large watch on account of its abundance of functions, the 42mm x 16.2mm IW3713 was ahead of its time within IWC's catalog which typically included smaller watches, whereas today the majority of the brand's models are around the same size, but without the level of compication of the ref. IW3713.

Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case shows light surface marks and scratches throughout, with a small nick to the bezel near the nine o’clock position. The case back retains well-defined engravings and shows light scuffing. The luminova dial and hands are in near-mint condition. It is fitted with a stainless steel five-link bracelet with an IWC clasp, which remains in excellent condition. The bracelet has 22 links and will fit an approximately 7 1/2-inch wrist. Comes with an IWC watch roll.
