How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

Famed for their pilots watches and the like, IWC’s history as a watchmaker with a rich tradition across all spectra of watchmaking is often forgotten, like their dress watches and their more esoteric creations such as the ref. 825A we have here. Debuting in the early 1970s and boasting a large 40mm stainless steel case with a cushion-shaped profile and a water-resistant screw-down caseback, the ref. 825A showcases an eclectic design that speaks to the aesthetic freedom that was exhibited by watchmakers throughout the 1970s as watches became more fashion-forward. Featuring a large bezel-less design without lugs or crown guards for its hidden winding crown, the ref. 825A is a perfectly symmetrical and rather unique timepiece that provides a wearing experience like no other.

THE DIAL
THE DIAL

Boasting a stunning silver dial with matching black-bordered hands and applied indices, the 825A's display is intensely legible and easy to read.

THE CONSTRUCTION
THE CONSTRUCTION

Exhibiting a rather unique cushion-shaped case that fills the wrist, the ref. 825A's overarching aesthetic speaks to the quirky nature of 1970s design, with its broad case sporting no defining features like a bezel, crown guards or lugs.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.

Condition

Watch is in excellent vintage condition. Case has some surface wear and an edge ding visible on the lower right part of the case. The dial has a reddish spot visible on the dial near the date aperture, but is otherwise free from any significant marks or damage. The crystal is scratched. Watch comes on a generic strap and buckle.

Our Perspective

An aesthetically interesting watch born from the whacky design period that was the 1970s, the 825A's unique construction gives it a presence on the wrist that can't be found anywhere else.
