Introduction
Originally introduced in 1958 for scientists, engineers and explorers participating in the International Geophysical Year, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic has long represented the manufacture's pursuit of precision, reliability and understated elegance. Revived in 2014 before evolving into a permanent collection, the modern Geophysic combined vintage-inspired aesthetics with genuinely innovative mechanics, resulting in one of the most technically interesting everyday watches of its era.
Offered here is the Geophysic Universal Time, a sophisticated world-time wristwatch that pairs Jaeger-LeCoultre's distinctive True Second (deadbeat seconds) mechanism with an intuitive traveller's GMT display. Rather than relying on multiple pushers or complex setting procedures, the local hour hand can be adjusted independently in one-hour increments while the beautifully executed world-time display remains perfectly synchronised. Featuring an engraved and lacquered world map at the centre of its dial, the Geophysic Universal Time combines practical functionality with exceptional craftsmanship, making it one of the finest modern interpretations of the classic world-time complication.

THE DIAL
The Geophysic Universal Time's striking dial centres on a beautifully executed relief map of the world, with lacquered blue oceans contrasting against gilded continents. Surrounding the map is a rotating 24-hour ring and world-city disc, allowing every major time zone to be read simultaneously at a glance while maintaining exceptional clarity and legibility.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Crafted from stainless steel, the Geophysic's elegant 42mm case balances contemporary proportions with restrained styling. Beneath its sapphire case back sits Jaeger-LeCoultre's in-house calibre 772, featuring the manufacture's innovative True Second mechanism, which advances the seconds hand in precise one-second increments while retaining the smooth operation of a mechanical movement.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case shows light surface scratches and a few small nicks to the bezel. The display case back retains well-defined engravings. The dial and hands are in near-mint condition. It is fitted with a black leather strap and a steel deployant clasp in near-mint condition. Comes with the inner and outer boxes, warranty, and booklets.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
The Geophysic Universal Time remains one of the most underrated complicated watches of the modern era. Combining an elegant and highly legible world-time display with Jaeger-LeCoultre's fascinating True Second mechanism, it offers genuine technical innovation without compromising everyday usability. For collectors seeking a sophisticated traveller's watch that stands apart from more conventional world timers, the Geophysic Universal Time is an exceptional proposition.
