Introduction
Produced during the early 1970s, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox “Snowdrop” ref. E877 represents one of the boldest and most unconventional interpretations of the brand’s famous alarm watch lineage. Introduced during a period when watch design embraced increasingly experimental shapes and integrated styling, the “Snowdrop” earned its collector nickname from its distinctive rounded case profile and sculptural appearance. Powered by the in-house automatic cal. 916 movement, the watch combined Jaeger-LeCoultre’s renowned mechanical sophistication with the futuristic aesthetics that came to define many luxury sports watches of the era. Produced in relatively limited numbers, with approximately 2,050 stainless steel examples believed to have been manufactured according to The Collectables book by Jaeger-LeCoultre, the ref. E877 has become one of the more elusive and collectible vintage Memovox references among enthusiasts today.

THE DIAL
The dial features the classic dual-crown Memovox layout, with the rotating inner alarm disc positioned centrally beneath applied hour markers and broad hands designed for strong legibility. The restrained monochromatic palette and clean arrangement reinforce the watch’s distinctly modern sporting aesthetic while maintaining the functional clarity expected of the Memovox line.

THE CONSTRUCTION
The oversized 43mm stainless steel case showcases the flowing rounded forms and integrated styling that gave the “Snowdrop” its collector nickname. Retaining its original brushed finish, the case perfectly captures the futuristic design language embraced by Jaeger-LeCoultre during the early 1970s.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case shows light surface scratches and a couple of small nicks as expected of a watch of this vintage, while the case back retains well-defined engravings with some surface scratches. The dial and hands remain near mint. The crystal has some scratches. It is fitted with a bracelet showing light signs of wear and light play between the links. The bracelet is fitted with 28 links and fits approximately a 7¾” wrist.
Please note: The watch ticks at time of cataloging, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
Our Perspective
With one of the coolest names for a watch, the Snowdrop is a sexy beast. It’s wide, thick and very easy on the eye and wrist despite its measurements. According to The Collectables book by Jaeger-LeCoultre, only 2,050 of these beautiful watches were made in stainless steel.
