Introduction
Founded in 1833, Jaeger LeCoultre has had one of the most successful and illustrious careers as a watchmaker, with over 1200 movements created and 400 patents filed under the brand's name. Today famed as the "watchmaker's watchmaker," Jaeger LeCoultre is best known for supplying movements to brands like Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, and a whole host of other horological heavyweights. Prior to Jaeger's merger with LeCoultre, which brought about the brand's dedication to in-house watchmaking, Jaeger would source third-party movements from high-quality watchmakers like Universal Geneve and others. Offered here, we have a vintage Jaeger chronograph powered by one of these Universal Geneve movements. Originally made for the French market, this rare timepiece exhibits the famed French phrase "Fab Suisse" (Swiss made) marking on its dial at 6 o'clock, revealing its final destination before it was sold to its original purchaser.
