Introduction
Launched in late 2023 as a friends and family only offering of just 99 pieces, the Kollokium Projekt 01 slipped under the radar as a wonderfully unique and interesting offering from the brand new independent watchmaker founded by Amr Sindi, Barth Nussbaumer, and Manuel Emch. Since then, the brand’s timepieces have become incredibly sought-after and garnered the attention they deserve. Going on to be nominated for the GPHG Challenge Category for watches priced at CHF 3,000 or below, the watch world became thoroughly excited about this new brand and so they released subsequent variants. Offered here we have the second model launched by the brand, the Projekt 02. Specifically the Variant B, this example is part of a collection limited to just 299 pieces, with its fluorescent yellow seconds hand differentiating it from other variants. Featuring a unique case design with angular lugs and a stepped midcase, the Projekt 02’s design is thoroughly unusual, but its dial is where the magic happens. Created using 67 topographical plates with hand-painted 9 shades of grey to black lacquer with blue emission Super-LumiNova, the resulting aesthetic is unlike anything else in the industry with the world’s first vertical gradient dial in a shift of grey to black. Designed like a hypsometric map, each hour marker is designed to look like mountains where they are the highest peaks on the dial with a plethora of peaks and valleys found throughout the rest of the dial. Aesthetically unique and wonderful, the Projekt 02 has become another champion of independent horology much like its predecessor, the Projekt 01, and with its immense popularity, it is hard to imagine the brand won’t continue to go from strength to strength in the near and distant future.

THE DIAL
Sporting a truly three-dimensional dial, the Projekt 02's black-to-grey display is made up of 67 dial plates that are hand-painted with 9 shades of grey to black lacquer with blue emission Super-LumiNova that combine to create a hypsometric map where the peaks are the hour markers and the rest of the dial looks like a landscape filled with smaller peaks and deep valleys.
THE CONSTRUCTION
Boasting a wonderful die-cast two-part construction with a resulting sandblasted-like finish, the Projekt 02's case immediately sets it apart as a unique watch thanks to its shapely lugs and uniquely stepped midcase.
