As part of their 10th anniversary, watch blog SJX decided to create a series of limited-edition collaboration timepieces in conjunction with esteemed watchmakers that push horological boundaries. In conjunction with Canadian Illustrator Lee Yuen-Rapati, the resulting limited edition timepiece of 21 pieces that we have here, the Kudoke 2 Zodiac SJX Edition Two was born. Made using a Kudoke 2 as its base, the Zodiac’s unique feature is its hand-engraved Art-Deco emblems that combined the symbols of the zodiac with the twelve Roman numerals that often feature on watch dials. Following a painstaking design process, the resulting markers were then hand-engraved on a raised silver chapter ring that encircles a grey textured portion that also houses Kudoke’s branding, and provides the base for the Kudoke 2’s 24-hour indicator at 12 o’clock. Housed within a two-tone case, the Kudoke 2 Zodiac uses an intriguing blend of metals, 18kt pink gold and titanium, in what is a rather unorthodox mix of metals, as we don’t often see these two materials paired together. A fittingly unique construction for a timepiece that is incredibly creative, the Kudoke 2 Zodiac is an incredibly designed timepiece that shows that even though a timepiece might not look too complex at first glance it can still go far above and beyond what is required to tell the time in a fun and unique way.
