Since launching Kurono Tokyo in 2019, renowned independent watchmaker Hajime Asaoka has sought to make his distinctive design language accessible to a wider audience. Having earned international acclaim for producing entirely hand-crafted bespoke timepieces in extremely limited numbers, Asaoka recognised that demand for his work far exceeded what a single watchmaker could realistically produce. Kurono Tokyo was created to bridge that gap, offering serially produced watches designed personally by Asaoka while preserving the elegance, proportions and unmistakably Japanese aesthetic that define his haute horlogerie creations.

Released in 2024 to celebrate the brand's fifth anniversary, the Reiwa Anniversary Edition revisits the very first Kurono Tokyo model with a dramatically reimagined dial. Inspired by the beginning of Japan's Reiwa era, the watch combines a deep black mirror-polished centre with a metallic lapis-green outer chapter ring whose complex multi-layered finishing process results in an exceptionally low production yield. Housed within Kurono's signature 37mm stainless steel case, the watch perfectly reflects Asaoka's belief that classical proportions never go out of style.
