Founded in 2018 by acclaimed independent watchmaker Hajime Asaoka, Kurono Tokyo was created to bring his distinctive design philosophy to a wider audience through carefully produced serial editions. While Asaoka's handmade watches are among the most sought-after creations in independent watchmaking, with production measured in just a handful of pieces each year, Kurono Tokyo has become an opportunity for collectors to experience his unmistakable aesthetic at a more accessible price point. Released in 2023, the Chronograph 3 Hisui is one of the brand's most celebrated creations. Building upon the success of its earlier chronographs, it combines classical proportions with an unmistakably Japanese identity through the use of a chapter ring crafted from Itoigawa jade, or hisui, a gemstone long associated with Japanese craftsmanship and culture.
