Introduction

Launched in 2023 as a collaboration between L’Epée, the Swiss clock manufacturer famed for creating some unique and whacky clocks, and Wristcheck, the Hong-Kong-based watch retailer and publication, the L’Epée Grenade Clock is exactly as it sounds, a grenade-inspired desk clock. 120mm in diameter and inspired by a grenade, the resulting clock features a skeletonized construction that reveals the L’Epée cal. 1839 movement. Using two rotating silver drums to reveal the hours and minutes, this limited edition clock of just 88 pieces is both avant garde and horologically impressive, a hard balance ot strike at the best of times.

THE CONSTRUCTION
THE CONSTRUCTION

Boasting a skeletonized construction, the Grenade Clock reveals the labyrinthine web of gears and mechanical parts that make up its L'Epée cal. 1839 movement.

THE BASE
THE BASE

Serving as its base and caseback, the Grenade Clock is supported by an engraved base that reveals its individualized number amongst the 88 examples that were made, and houses where the key is to be used to wind its 8-day movement.

Condition

Clock is in like new condition, with little to no signs of handling.

Our Perspective

An exuberant piece of horology that resulted from a unique idea to take something from outside of watchmaking and use it as the basis upon which the Grenade Clock was built on, L'Epée have once again shown why they are so revered within their niche of horology.
