Taking those tenets forward into the latest era of watchmaking, Lang & Heyne released their stainless steel sports watch, the Hektor in 2021 which spoke to current market trends and expanded Lang & Heyne’s offering in a new way that departs from the brand’s comfort zone. Made of stainless steel and sporting an integrated bracelet, the Hektor remains unique and refined in its styling as it fails to fall under the 1970’s inspired sports watch design language that has become all the rage throughout the industry. With its rounded case, the Hektor retains Lang & Heyne’s classical aesthetic, which is only compounded by its elegantly styled dial. Featuring a blend of textures, this limited edition collection of 99 pieces comes boasting one of three dial variants; dark blue, dark green and medium grey (33 pieces for each of the 3 dial variants). With luminescent cathedral hands and applied hour markers, the Hektor’s dial is refined and traditional, in keeping with the brand’s known aesthetic. With an aperture at 6 o’clock, the Hektor also shines a light on its beautifully finished manual-wind movement, the UWD cal. 33.2, from Uhren-Werke-Dresden, a sister company of Lang & Heyne. On display behind a sapphire crystal caseback, it features an array of bridges, anglage, various surface textures and polished bevels and countersinks. A fantastically made timepiece, the Hektor puts Lang & Heyne’s stamp on stainless steel sports timepieces in a manner that few other watchmakers could quite pull off.
