Introduction
The emergence of a new generation of independent Chinese watchmakers is bringing fresh perspectives to traditional horological craftsmanship, particularly in the field of decorative arts. Among the most interesting young names is Langle Yuan, a Gen Z watchmaker and enamel artist whose work combines traditional enamelling techniques with unconventional approaches to displaying time. Rather than relying on elaborate complications or familiar design conventions, Yuan places the emphasis on the dial as a miniature canvas, employing painstaking micro-engraving and hand-painted enamel to create intricate compositions inspired by landscapes, nature and artistic expression. The resulting watches demonstrate how traditional decorative techniques can be reinterpreted through a distinctly contemporary perspective.
The Furinkazan is one of Yuan's signature creations, distinguished by its unusual time display and richly detailed enamel dial. Instead of conventional central hands, the watch uses a fan-shaped aperture towards the top of the dial, with a rotating numeral disc and floating gold indicator providing an alternative method of reading the time. This particular example is a pièce unique, combining the Furinkazan's distinctive architecture with an individually executed enamel composition. Housed in a polished stainless steel case with sculpted, downward-curving lugs, the watch brings together the disciplines of traditional enamel painting, engraving and mechanical watchmaking.

THE DIAL
The Furinkazan's defining feature is its individually crafted enamel dial, combining miniature painting with intricate micro-engraving. Traditional central hands are replaced by an unusual fan-shaped aperture, incorporating a rotating numeral disc and floating gold indicator.

THE CONSTRUCTION
The polished stainless steel case features sculpted, downward-curving lugs that give the Furinkazan a distinctive profile. Its restrained architecture provides a deliberate contrast to the elaborate enamel dial, allowing the miniature artwork to take centre stage.

Our Perspective
Langle Yuan represents an exciting direction in independent watchmaking, where traditional craftsmanship is being explored by a younger generation of artisans working outside the established Swiss industry. The Furinkazan is particularly interesting for the way its unusual time display allows the enamel artwork to dominate the design, creating a watch that feels as much like a miniature painting as a mechanical instrument.
