Introduction

A remarkable timepiece that embodies the essence of traditional watchmaking with a touch of contemporary sophistication, the Laurent Ferrier Classic Origin is a timepiece that proves just how much modern watchmaking has evolved. Laurent Ferrier, the renowned independent Swiss watchmaker with a tiny production output of around 300 watches per year has built a reputation for creating exquisite and timeless watches, and the Classic Origin is no exception, especially the example that we have here, which Laurent Ferrier debuted in 2021 in collaboration with The Rake and The Revolution magazine as a limited edition collection of just 12 pieces. Showcasing a clean and elegant design with a 40mm round stainless steel case that boasts a domed stepped bezel and elegant swooping lugs, this watch pays homage to the classic timepieces of the past in a truly timeless fashion. Powered by the manual-wind in-house cal. LF116.01 movement, the Classic Origin offers impeccable precision, reliability and finishing with its variety of finishing techniques on display behind its exhibition caseback. Boasting a two-tone silver on silver sector dial, this limited edition variant’s display is unmistakably reserved in its execution, playing to Laurent Ferrier’s position within the independent market as a brand that focuses on the highest quality craftsmanship and not aesthetic exuberance for its own sake. With its blend of classic design, exquisite craftsmanship, and mechanical excellence, the Laurent Ferrier Classic Origin is a timepiece that appeals to watch enthusiasts who appreciate timeless beauty, exceptional quality, and genuine exclusivity.

THE DIAL
THE DIAL

Boasting a simple two-tone silver sector dial with blued hands and black accents that provide a subtle pop of legibility, this example's display is decidedly luxurious, carefully measured, and thoughtfully executed.

THE CONSTRUCTION
THE CONSTRUCTION

Made of stainless steel and boasting a domed stepped bezel and slender downturned lugs that enhance its timeless appeal, the Classic Origin is as comfortable on the wrist as it is carefully considered, and on this stainless steel mesh bracelet it is all the more unique.

Condition

The watch is in overall near-mint condition. The stainless steel case shows light signs of wear, while the display case back retains crisp engravings around the edge. The two-tone sector dial and hands are like new. It is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet showing light wear, which fits an approximately 7” wrist with three removable links and one additional link included. The watch comes complete with its original boxes, warranty, booklets, loupe, leather strap, and a spare set of blued hands with lume.

Our Perspective

A timepiece that lets its craftsmanship do the talking, the Classic Origin has been one of Laurent Ferrier's most thoughtfully designed timepieces since its debut, with its careful combination of mid-century watchmaking and haute horology. Offered here as a limited edition of just 12, this collaboration with The Rake and Revolution speaks to those tendancies with some subtle twists.
