Laurent Ferrier Classic Origin Revolution & The Rake Limited Edition

Introduction
Laurent Ferrier has built his reputation around a deceptively simple idea: classical watchmaking in which the sophistication reveals itself through proportion, detail and movement finishing rather than visual excess. The Classic Origin distils that philosophy particularly effectively, combining the soft curves of Ferrier's 40mm case with a manually wound movement and restrained small-seconds display. For this 2021 collaboration with Revolution and The Rake, however, the familiar formula was given a more expressive character inspired by sector dials and the great scientific watches of the 1930s and '40s.
Limited to just 12 pieces, this edition pairs a stainless steel case with a specially developed brut-champagne dial, combining a sunray centre with a contrasting sector track and applied Breguet numerals at 12, three and nine. Those numerals are formed in white gold before receiving a dark ruthenium treatment, while the manually wound LF116.01 receives an equally unusual gold-toned micro-sandblasted finish with contrasting hand-finished bevels. The watch was originally supplied with both a calfskin strap and a steel Milanese bracelet, the latter giving Ferrier's normally formal design a surprisingly sporting character.

THE DIAL
The brut-champagne dial combines a sunburst centre with an opaline outer section and contrasting slate-grey sector track. Applied Breguet numerals at 12, three and nine are fashioned from white gold and treated with ruthenium, while a small-seconds display at six completes the composition. It is more assertive than Ferrier's usual aesthetic without sacrificing his characteristic restraint.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Ferrier's stainless steel Classic Origin case measures 40mm across and just 10.7mm thick, with the manufacture's characteristic flowing profile and ball-shaped crown. The case back is engraved “Revolution & The Rake” and individually numbered "6" as part of the 12-piece edition.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall near-mint condition. The steel case shows some light surface scratches, with a more noticeable mark on the bezel. The case back retains crisp engravings around the edge. The dial and hands are like new. It is fitted with a black leather strap and steel pin buckle, both in near-mint condition. Comes with inner and outer boxes, warranty card, cloth, loupe, and steel Milanese-style bracelet in near-mint condition.
Our Perspective
This collaboration succeeds because it pushes Laurent Ferrier just far enough beyond his usual restraint. The champagne sector dial and ruthenium-treated Breguet numerals introduce considerably more personality, while the specially finished LF116.01 provides the substance expected from the manufacture. With only 12 examples produced, it is also an exceptionally small-run expression of the Classic Origin and one of the more distinctive Revolution and The Rake collaborations with Ferrier.
