Few independent watchmakers have devoted their careers as completely to the pursuit of precision timekeeping as Bernhard Lederer. A member of the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI) since 1985, Lederer spent decades designing highly complicated movements for some of Switzerland's leading manufactures before launching his own eponymous brand in 2020. The culmination of a lifetime studying escapements and chronometry, the Central Impulse Chronometer represents not only his debut collection but also one of the most technically significant wristwatches of the twenty-first century. Awarded the Innovation Prize at the 2021 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), it immediately established itself as a landmark achievement in modern independent watchmaking.

At the heart of the watch is Lederer's remarkable reinterpretation of George Daniels' independent double-wheel escapement, itself inspired by Abraham-Louis Breguet's natural escapement. Rather than relying on a conventional gear train, the movement employs two completely independent going trains, each powered by its own mainspring barrel and escape wheel, working together to deliver energy with exceptional consistency. Complementing this architecture are twin constant-force remontoires that recharge every ten seconds and alternate their delivery every five seconds, ensuring an extraordinarily stable flow of power to the escapement. Produced in a limited edition of just 25 examples in white gold, the Central Impulse Chronometer is both an extraordinary feat of engineering and one of the defining independent watches of its generation.
