Introduction
Born from an idea following a skiing accident in 1996 in which he suffered a broken back, Jorn Werdelin partnered with his childhood friend Morten Linde in 2002 to launch the brand Linde Werdelin. The idea was to create a high-end sports watch that could be paired with digital instruments to provide information about skiing or diving. Following 4 years of research and development, they released their first watch in 2006. Since then, the brand has created tool watches for world-leading climbers, divers, and all other manner of sports people and explorers. Offered here as a window into that world we have the Linde Werdelin Oktopus Frogman, a watch that commissioned specifically by the Danish Military (Conventus Ranæ) for their Frømandskorpset (the Danish Frogman Corps) with its brighter lume aiding in their night-time operations, which the still-commissioned watches are still used for. Maintaining the brand’s unique tonneau-shaped case, exposed screw bezel and integrated rubber strap, the Oktopus Frogmen utilizes a titanium case with a black ceramic bezel to offer optimum performance. Offered as part of the 140 to 150 pieces that were commissioned in 2014, this example was decommissioned and refurbished by the brand in 2023, with its individual number removed and replaced with the number 7, marking it as the 7th decommissioned example.

THE DIAL
Designed specifically for night-time operations, the Oktopus Frogmen watches were given brighter lume than their civilian counterparts.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Made of titanium with ceramic bezels to save weight, the Oktopus Frogmen watches were explicitly designed for performance given their high-octane usecase as real military tools, as their engraved caseback stands as a testament to.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The titanium case is still sharp but has some light scratches on the front and sides. The ceramic bezel has a light scratch on the edge around 7. The case back shows light signs of wear with very well-defined engravings. The dial is pristine. The watch is fitted with a black rubber strap with an LW buckle in excellent condition. Complete with box and papers, along with a spare white rubber strap.
