Longines has one of the richest archives in Swiss watchmaking, and the Heritage Classic collection has provided the manufacture with an effective way of revisiting that history without simply reproducing it. This collaboration with HODINKEE took the Heritage Classic “Sector” as its starting point, drawing particular inspiration from the chronometers and precision watches Longines produced during the middle decades of the twentieth century. The familiar sector-dial architecture was deliberately simplified, removing the conventional central crosshair and replacing Arabic numerals with painted black hour markers.

Limited to 500 individually numbered pieces, the result combines vintage proportions with thoroughly modern mechanics. Its fully brushed 38.5mm stainless steel case is just 11mm thick, with a stepped bezel and long tapered lugs, while the automatic L893.4 calibre was submitted to COSC testing for each watch in the edition. Based on the ETA A31.501 architecture, the movement incorporates a silicon balance spring and provides approximately 72 hours of power reserve. Originally supplied on a stainless steel beads-of-rice bracelet with an additional brown leather strap, the collaboration succeeds by refining one of Longines' strongest historical design languages rather than simply recreating an archival watch.
