Founded in 1929, Louis Erard is a watchmaker filled with heritage and history. Selling watches under their own banner since 1931, the brand was eventually acquired in the 1990s before it was later relaunched in 2003, during the independent watchmaking boom of the early 2000s. Since then, Louis Erard is well-established with a strong design language that punches far heavier than its price tag might indicate. As such, Louis Erard’s timepieces are incredibly well-received and sought-after, much like their 2022 release, the Excellence Guilloche Main II which took off exactly where its sibling 2021 release, the Excellence Guilloche Main, left off. Created as another celebration of artistic craftsmanship, the Excellence Guilloche Main II’s dial is executed by the very same hand guilloché technique on each of the 99 pieces in the collection – just like its predecessor. Featuring an intricately formed large diamond with a “kinetic feel” as Louis Erard puts it, the center diamond features an alternating pattern of black varnish stripes and thin bands of guilloche engraved stripes grouped together. Alongside this, the perimeter of the dial features concentric rings that encircle the diamond and bring another level to the geometric flourish that emantes from this wonderfully executed dial. With Louis Erard's signature blued steel fir tree hands, the Excellence Guilloche Main is also surprisingly legible – not something one would expect from such a unique dial.
