Introduction
The M.A.D.1 began in 2021 as Maximilian Büsser's way of thanking the suppliers, friends and collectors who had supported MB&F, translating some of the creative spirit of his far more elaborate Horological Machines into something deliberately playful and accessible. Its inverted movement, lateral time display and wildly spinning triple-blade rotor made it an immediate sensation, ultimately leading to further editions offered to the wider collecting community under the separate M.A.D. Editions name.
The GMT Milano Edition is considerably more exclusive. Created to celebrate 30 years of friendship and collaboration between Büsser and the Corvo family behind Italy's GMT (Great Masters of Time) it was produced in just 30 pieces. Despite its name, GMT does not denote a second time zone, but the Italian retailer itself. The familiar M.A.D.1 architecture is transformed by an unusual salmon-toned, 4N gold-plated treatment paired with a distinctive green leather strap. Combining one of contemporary independent watchmaking's most playful designs with a genuinely personal story, it is among the smallest-production M.A.D.1 editions.

THE DIAL
There is no conventional dial in the traditional sense. Hours and minutes are displayed on rotating aluminium cylinders around the case band, allowing the time to be read laterally at 6 o'clock. For the Milano Edition, the familiar architecture receives a warm salmon-toned treatment, creating an unexpectedly classical colour combination within one of modern watchmaking's most unconventional designs.
THE CONSTRUCTION
Measuring 42mm across and 18.8mm thick, the M.A.D.1 uses an unconventional combination of steel and transparent mineral glass to expose its mechanics from multiple angles. The GMT Milano Edition adds salmon tones and green leather strap, a deliberately elegant palette that contrasts with the futuristic architecture of the case and its highly animated rotor.

Our Perspective
The story behind this edition makes it much more than another colour variation of the M.A.D.1. Limited to only 30 pieces, it commemorates a relationship between Maximilian Büsser and the Corvo family that predates MB&F itself and stretches back to 1992. The salmon and green combination also gives the famously futuristic M.A.D.1 an unexpectedly traditional character. For collectors of Büsser's work, the GMT Milano Edition represents an unusually scarce and personal chapter in the M.A.D. Editions story.
