Introduction
Following the remarkable success of the original M.A.D. 1, Maximilian Büsser expanded the concept in 2025 with an entirely new watch conceived by longtime MB&F collaborator Eric Giroud. Rather than revisiting the original design, the M.A.D. 2 pays tribute to Giroud's lifelong passion for the vibrant club culture of the 1990s, drawing inspiration from vinyl records, DJ turntables and the legendary MAD nightclub in Lausanne where he spent much of his youth. The result combines the playful character that has defined M.A.D. Editions with a more sophisticated mechanical display built around jumping hours and trailing minutes.
The M.A.D. 2 R&B brings a particularly strong colour combination to the platform, pairing a black dial plate with contrasting red hour and minute discs. Available through the M.A.D. Editions raffle system, the R&B retains the turntable-inspired architecture of the collection, with its rotating display and prominent winding rotor becoming integral elements of the design. Beneath it is the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G101 automatic calibre, fitted with MB&F's bi-directional jumping-hour and trailing-minute module and offering a substantial 64-hour power reserve. It is a typically unconventional approach to displaying time, but one underpinned by increasingly serious watchmaking.

THE DIAL
The R&B pairs a black dial plate with vivid red jumping-hour and trailing-minute discs, giving the M.A.D. 2's unconventional display particularly strong contrast. Inspired by vinyl records and DJ equipment, the raised central architecture evokes a turntable, while the surrounding details continue Eric Giroud's references to the club culture that inspired the collection.

THE CONSTRUCTION
The 42mm stainless steel case measures 12.3mm thick and 48.5mm from lug to lug, making the M.A.D. 2 notably slimmer than the original M.A.D. 1. Sapphire crystals front and back provide extensive views into its unusual architecture, while the 21mm leather strap is secured by a stainless steel folding buckle. Water resistance is rated to 30 metres.

Our Perspective
The R&B demonstrates how effectively the M.A.D. 2 platform responds to colour. Reversing the emphasis of the REDemption edition, its black dial plate and red time discs give the watch a darker, more technical character while retaining the same playful turntable-inspired concept. Powered by the La Joux-Perret G101 and MB&F-developed display module, it neatly balances the accessibility and irreverence of M.A.D. Editions with genuinely interesting mechanics.
