Introduction
Founded in 2005, Swiss watchmaker Maitres de Temps was created with the vision of crafting timepieces that offer as a joint venture between a handful of incredibly talent watchmakers. Launched as their second watch, as its name implies, the Chapter Two that we have here saw the talents of legendary watchmakers Daniel Roth, Peter Speake-Marin and Roger Dubuis come together to create a triple calendar wristwatch with a big date function and rollers indicating days and months between its lugs. Launched in 2009, its futuristic aesthetic combines a black DLC coated titanium construction with 18kt rose gold accents across its dial, winding crown and screw-bars that hold its rubber strap in place. Combining some of the aesthetics of each of its watchmakers’ brands, the Chapter Two features a dial layout like those found in Roger Dubuis’ timepiece and a screw-bar like those in Speake-Marin’s watches. With its blacked-out futuristic aesthetic, the Chapter Two marked a significant change from the classical design of the watch it replaced, the Chapter One.

THE DIAL
Boasting a dial design like those found in Roger Dubuis' timepieces, the Maitres du Temps Chapter Two's black dial features rose gold Roman numerals, a running seconds subdial and a large date aperture at 12 o'clock.
THE CONSTRUCTION
While its hulking case dimensions are indeed large, the Chapter Two's rolling day and date displays within its lugs make the watch seem larger than it is, as these components wrap around the wrist and wear more elegantly than one might assume. Additionally, its titanium construction means the watch is lighter than it otherwise would be in steel or a precious metal.
