Introduction

Famed for their wacky designs, incredible engineering and fresh concepts, MB&F has become one of the most influential independent watchmakers in the world. Of course, like most MB&F timepieces, the HM7 Aquapod is no ordinary watch, instead a truly wonderful celebration of horological passion and wonder. Inspired by a rather unlikely source, like so many of MB&F’s horological machines, the HM7 Aquapod is inspired by the humble jellyfish, which gives it its spherical three-dimensional design. Featuring a central 60-second flying tourbillon at its centre and concentric vertical movement architecture, the HM7 Aquapod is immediately recognisable as a watch that doesn’t display time as you would expect. Instead, its features a line down the 6 o’clock position with two rings of numbers that rotate through the line to display the minutes on top, and hours below as they rotate past the line. Tying jellyfish into the design even more, the HM7 Aquapod glows in the dark with heavily lumed hour and minute numerals, a luminescent uni-directional floating bezel and even lumed movement architecture. Finally, the HM7 Aquapod even features a tentacle-like winding rotor to finalise the design. Made of grade 5 titanium and limited to just 33 pieces, the blue variant we have here is, rather fittingly, the most closely linked variant to the HM7 Aquapod’s source of inspiration, the sea.

THE DIAL

Featuring a rather unique display, the Aquapod's dial is read from the top down, with this example showing the time as 10:32.

THE CONSTRUCTION

While its measurements are large due to its rotating bezel, the Aquapod is surprisingly light and wearable thanks to its grade 5 titanium construction.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.

Condition

Watch is in near-mint condition, showing light signs of use.

Our Perspective

An incredibly unique watch inspired by an unlikely source, the Aquapod demonstrated MB&F's ability to take something completely unrelated to horology and create a watch inspired by it.
