Introduction
Inspired by Max Busser’s desire to create the watch he would've tried to create had he been born a 100 years before he was (and therefore lacked his modern design inspirations of Star Wars, Grendizers, or fighter jets), the Legacy Machine 1 has become symbolic of MB&F’s unique design language and unusual inspirations. With roundness and a domed crystal as his starting points, Max Busser took period-correct inspiration from Jules Verne, the Eiffel Tower, and pocket watches to create one of watchmaking’s most unusual timepieces and the blueprint from which the brand has built their modern design foundation. Featuring a futuristic movement with a flying balance wheel suspended over its dial, a vertical power reserve indicator, and two independent time displays, the LM1 retains MB&F’s forward-thinking nature, luxury-oriented design details, and fabulous finishing all in abundance. Launched in collaboration with famed artist, watch designer and creative mastermind Alain Silberstein, the LM1 that we have here is not like any others that have been released. Launched in 2016 as a limited edition of 36 pieces, spread across 3 variants of 12 pieces each, the LM1 Alain Silberstein utilized Alain’s iconic use of colorful and uniquely shaped hands to add some spice to the LM1’s aesthetic that underscores MB&F’s determined attempts to be a watchmaker that embraces the whacky, weird and wonderful.

THE DIAL
Adding his own twist to the LM1's design, the LM1's 14mm "flying" balance wheel and one-of-a-kind vertical power reserve indicator at 6 o'clock are both different from the regular LM1, with the bridge that holds the balance to the use of stacked shapes for the power reserve indicator. Additionally, the two independent time-only dials feature Alain's signature hand shapes.

THE MOVEMENT
The result of a collaboration itself (just like all MB&F timepieces), the LM1's movement combines the talents of highly esteemed watchmakers Kari Voutilainen, and Jean François Mojon, thus showcasing some exceptional craftsmanship and hand-finishing found throughout its 18kt gold plated architecture.

Our Perspective
Given that the LM1 has always thrown traditional horological design to the side, it serves as no surprise that when combined with the aesthetic flourish of someone like Alain Silberstein the resulting watch is exceptionally unique and creative.
