Introduction
Launched in 2017 as an updated take on one of MB&F’s most famous models, the Legacy Machine 1, the LM Split Escapement took some design and mechanical inspiration from its predecessor and repackaged it in such a way that it perfectly encapsulated the brand’s genius. Named after the arrangement of its escapement relative to the balance and escape wheel, the LM Split Escapement’s balance appears to be oscillating without anything providing an impulse as it notably lacks the lever and escape wheel that its sibling models possess. Instead, these are beneath the plate of the dial and so split the escapement into two pieces. A deeply complex and stunning timepiece, the LM Split Escapement boggles the mind and truly is a wonderful piece of horology. Constructed of 18k white gold and sporting a trio of white lacquered dials displaying the time, date and power reserve atop its frosted red gold dial plate, the ref. 03.WL.FR is exceptionally stunning inside and out.

THE DIAL
Sitting beneath its trio of white lacquered subdials is the LM Split Escapement's hand-frosted red gold dial plate. A staggeringly difficult process to master, only brands like MB&F can provide such detail.
THE MOVEMENT
Providing energy to the escapement as if in secret, the LM Split Escapament's anchor and escape wheel are on display behind a sapphire crystal caseback, instead of with the rest of the escapement, as one might normally expect.

Watch is in near-mint condition, looking like new still. It has only been worn sparingly by the original owner and comes as it would brand new.
