Launched in 2023 at Dubai Watch Week, the 37.08 Sand that we have here was created as a fun and playful “deep-relief textured watch” which is namely achieved through its sand yellow dial that is imbued with an expressive seabed-inspired rippled effect where the randomized peaks and troughs across the dial’s yellow surface replicate sand’s patterns in shallow water. Made of stainless steel and featuring the same case design as so many of Ming’s timepieces that have come before it, the 37.08 will have a familiar presence on the wrist of any Ming collector with its pagoda lugs and pronounced crown filling the wrist nicely. Powered by the manual-wind cal. SW210.M1 movement that was created by Manufacture Schwarz-Etienne for the 37.08 and is on display behind its exhibition caseback, the 37.08 is a technically astute timepiece that doesn’t skimp on mechanics, nor its aesthetics as communicated by its 18kt yellow gold hands, which beautifully match the color of the dial they stand above, but with no loss of legibility thanks to their disruption of the texture for which the 37.08 Sand’s name is derived.
