Founded in 1990 following the collapse of the Berlin wall, like a handful of other German watchmakers, Nomos Glashutte has quickly grown into one of the most highly respected watchmakers in the world thanks to their exceptional value for money, eye for detail and steadfast dedication to the Bauhaus school of design. Combining all of those tenets into one watch, like so many of their other models, is the Ahoi Neomatik 38 Date that we have here. Made of stainless steel and boasting a perfectly circular case (interrupted only by its crown guards at 3 o’clock), the Ahoi Neomatik 38.5mm diameter makes it wonderfully wearable and classical on the wrist. Just 9.9mm tall thanks to its thin cal. DUW 6101 movement, the Ahoi Neomatik 38 emphasises everything Nomos is about, with its understated Atlantic blue dial lacking any exuberant details that could otherwise detract from its ability to tell the time. Featuring a single flourish thanks to its bright red running seconds hand, the Ahoi Neomatik 38 is a carefully crafted watch whose understated looks deceive the lengthy design process that goes into making a watch appear so effortless.

Watch is in overall near-mint condition. The steel case shows light signs of wear with a couple of light surface scratches. The display case back has well-defined engravings around the edge and a couple of light marks. The dial and hands remain near mint, with a small speck visible on the dial between the ten o’clock marker and the hands’ pinion. It is fitted with a nylon strap and steel buckle showing light signs of wear. Comes complete with boxes, pouch, cloth, and warranty card.
