Introduction
Founded in Glashütte in 1990 following German reunification, Nomos has established itself as one of Germany's most respected modern watchmakers through its distinctive Bauhaus-inspired design language and exceptional in-house movements. In 2022, to celebrate 175 years of watchmaking in Glashütte, Nomos released a special series of four limited-edition Tetra Neomatik models, each produced in just 175 examples and distinguished by its own dial colour.
The present reference 421.S2 is arguably the boldest of the series, pairing a rich red dial with cream-coloured Arabic numerals and indexes and slender rhodium-plated hands. The small seconds display at 6 o'clock continues the tonal treatment while providing the visual balance characteristic of the Tetra. Housed within Nomos' distinctive square stainless steel case and powered by the ultra-thin in-house DUW 3001 automatic calibre, the watch combines an unusually expressive colour palette with the restrained geometry for which the Glashütte manufacture is known.

THE DIAL
Reference 421.S2 is distinguished by its rich red dial, contrasted by cream-coloured Arabic numerals and indexes and slender rhodium-plated hands. The small seconds display at 6 o'clock completes a striking interpretation of Nomos' typically restrained Bauhaus-inspired aesthetic, giving this limited-edition Tetra considerably more visual impact than its minimalist proportions might suggest.
THE CONSTRUCTION
The polished 33mm square stainless steel case remains one of Nomos' most distinctive designs, wearing considerably larger than its dimensions suggest thanks to its 45.3mm diagonal measurement. At only 7.3mm thick, it maintains an elegant profile despite housing an automatic movement, while the sharply defined square case and elongated lugs provide the architectural character that has defined the Tetra since its introduction.

Watch is in overall near-mint condition. The case shows light signs of careful wear. The dial and hands are like new. It is fitted with a shell Cordovan leather strap and a Nomos steel pin buckle, both in near-mint condition. Comes with the inner and outer boxes, travel roll, travel roll box, warranty, and cleaning cloth.

Nomos has become one of the defining success stories of modern German watchmaking by pairing distinctive Bauhaus-inspired design with genuinely accomplished in-house movements. Limited to just 175 examples as part of the manufacture's celebration of 175 years of watchmaking in Glashütte, the Tetra Neomatik Red takes the normally restrained Tetra in a much more expressive direction. Its saturated red dial and cream detailing make reference 421.S2 one of the most immediately recognisable executions from the anniversary series, while the DUW 3001 ensures that the mechanical substance beneath the dial is every bit as compelling as the design.
