Introduction
Founded in 1990, Nomos is a young watchmaker who has gained an impressive level of appreciation from watch collectors thanks to their Bauhaus-inspired design aesthetic and rigorous attention to detail. One of their most complex pieces, the Zurich Weltzeit is Nomos’ unique take on a worldtimer with a dial layout unlike most world timers on the market. With its central hands displaying local time in whichever city is named at 12 o’clock, the user’s home time is displayed through a subdial at 3 o’clock as an hour disc rotates behind the dial in an anti-clockwise fashion. With its tapered down-turned lugs and classical 40mm circular case, the Zurich Weltzeit wears on the wrist with a familiar sense of fitment as Nomos’ Bauhaus sense of construction has ensured the Weltzeit features no surprises. Fitted with a beautiful navy blue dial, the example we have here has some splashes of red that give the multi-leveled dial another sense of visual complexity.
