Introduction
Founded in 2015 as an independent Chicago-based watchmaker, Oak & Oscar have grown from humble beginnings into one of America’s shining lights on the indie watchmaking scene. Thanks to a unique approach to watch design that cultivates the brand's authentic style, the resulting timepieces are recognizable, fashionable and wonderfully wearable. Offered here, we have Oak & Oscar’s field watch, the Burnham. Launched in 2015 as the brand’s first watch, the Burnham, named after designer Daniel Burnham, is the long-discontinued yet still impressive brainchild that spawned Oak and Oscar’s career as a watch brand. Made of stainless steel and powered by the Soprod cal. A-10, this 42mm timepiece features a blue-grey sandwich dial with a unique orange seconds hand that uses a counterbalance that eclipses the brand’s barrel-shaped logo at 12 o’clock perfectly once per minute. Not only adding a subtle punch of color to the dial, but this also showcases the level of thought and detail that Oak and Oscar put into their first watch, which was carried into all of their subsequent timepieces, which has been a driving factor in the brand’s popularity in recent years.
