Introduction
Released in 2001 to celebrate Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher’s third World Driver’s Championship (his first for Ferrari), which he won the year prior in 2000, this Omega Speedmaster Reduced is a unique watch with a tangible link to automotive greatness. Featuring the Speedmaster Reduced’s case and movement, this timepiece is delineated from the rest thanks to its stunning racing dial and unique caseback featuring several references to Michael and his status as the F1 World Champion with his signature proudly sitting at the center of the caseback. Building onto its racing DNA, the timepiece’s black gloss dial also features a subtle chequered pattern throughout, which complements its otherwise more obvious racing dial pattern found along its periphery with orange and red squares and white hashes as demarcations for the seconds. Limited to just 6000 units, this rare yet familiar design is a brilliant example of Omega’s love of tasteful and carefully executed limited editions, a balance they struck wonderfully with this timepiece.
