Introduction
A lot is often said about Omega’s iconic trio of sports watches released in 1957, the Speedmaster, Seamaster and Railmaster. All created to satisfy the needs of their specific owners, Omega launched the Ranchero as a sort of general toolwatch the following year in 1958. Taking from the trilogy’s design language, the Ranchero features a black dial with an arrow-shaped hour hand, long dagger-shaped hour markers and a 3-6-12 Arabic numeral arrangement that aided in its legibility. Measuring 35mm in diameter and made of stainless steel, the Ranchero was a hard-wearing watch with a robust manual-wind movement to match, the cal. 267 from Omega’s 30mm family of movements. However, after just year of production the Ranchero was discontinued due to its unpopularity in Spanish-speaking countries due to the meaning of its name in Spanish; “Ranch Hand.” An unfortunate end to what would likely have been a popular offering, the Ranchero lives on as an exceptionally rare collector’s piece that boasts a unique story and an unfortunate mishap from one of horology’s most consistently brilliant watchmakers.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in very good overall condition. Case shows some wear along the surface but retains well proportioned lugs. The dial is excellent condition, showing no defects. The hands appear to have had the lime stabilized at some point, and they are a shade darker than the dial. The watch comes on an aftermarket "Private Eyes" Japanese bracelet that appears virtually unworn.
Our Perspective
A watch that has captured collector's hearts, the Ranchero's untimely demise at the hand of a simple oversight has created one of Omega's rarest models; a true diamond in the rough.
