Introduction

Produced during the late 1960s, the Omega Seamaster ref. 145.020, better known among collectors as the “Soccer Timer”, represents one of the most unusual and visually distinctive chronographs of the era. Designed during a period when Omega was experimenting with increasingly specialized sports timing instruments, the model combined the robust Lemania-based cal. 861 movement with a bold dial layout intended for timing football matches. Its instantly recognizable white dial with contrasting black and red registers reflects the vibrant and highly functional design language that emerged during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Housed within a characteristic C-shaped case, the Soccer Timer stands apart from more conventional Seamaster chronographs through both its sporting purpose and striking visual identity. Today, it remains one of Omega’s most collectible niche chronographs from the period.

THE DIAL
THE DIAL

The original white dial features contrasting black and red chronograph registers specifically designed to assist with football match timing, giving rise to the model’s “Soccer Timer” nickname. An outer tachymeter track frames the display, while the vivid color contrasts create one of the most distinctive and instantly recognizable dial designs produced by Omega during the era.

THE CONSTRUCTION
THE CONSTRUCTION

The stainless steel C-shaped case reflects the bold integrated styling that became popular during the late 1960s, combining strong wrist presence with flowing ergonomic lines. Measuring 41mm in diameter, the case perfectly complements the watch’s highly sporting aesthetic and is paired with its period Omega ref. 1117 bracelet fitted with 549 end links.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.

Condition

Watch is in overall excellent condition. The steel case shows surface scratches and marks as expected of a watch of this vintage, while the case back has well-defined engravings with scratches from a case back tool. The Omega-embossed crown is still present and in excellent condition. The dial is excellent, with only very minor marks, and the hands are very clean. The crystal has surface scratches. It is fitted with an Omega bracelet showing surface marks and light play between the links. The bracelet has 25 links and fits approximately a 7¼” wrist.

Our Perspective

I’ve always liked Omega soccer timers. Like a yacht timer for a landlubber, this reference looks killer regardless of whether you are on or off the pitch. This white-dialed version is the rarer of the two versions Omega offered.
