Introduction
Initially released in 1948 and based on watches used by airmen in WWII, the Omega Seamaster has become one of Omega’s best-known collections. Initially, a dress-style watch with thick lugs, the Seamaster was designed to promote daily wear while remaining functional for use in water with 62.5 meters of water resistance with a balanced stylish design. Launched in 1949, the reference that we have here is the ref. CK 2577. Boasting a 34mm stainless steel construction that features those thick lugs we mentioned and a flat bezel, the CK 2577 shows signs of the Seamaster’s evolution into its current position as a dive watch. Fitted with a black dial, this example’s hour markers are a mix of golden dagger-shaped applied luminescent indices and printed gilt Arabic hour markers at the quarter hours, which match the dial’s other gilt inscriptions. With a black and gold aesthetic bringing some elegance to its casual toolish design, this Seamaster is a wonderful reminder of the collection’s roots and its evolution into one of the most popular sports watches on the market today.

Condition
Watch is overall in very good condition. The steel case has scratches and small nicks on the lugs and bezel. The case back has retained its circular-brushed finish and has some scratches. The black dial has a very good aged matte finish, with some discoloration to the lume plots in places, especially at four and five. The gold hands are very good, with some oxidation on the seconds hand. The watch is fitted with a generic black leather strap with steel buckle in very good condition and is accompanied by its original guarantee papers and box.
Our Perspective
An early offering from the Seamaster collection that combines its casual yet capable design and offers it in a well-rounded package, the CK 2577 displays the Seamaster's roots as a capable sports watch that is perfect for everyday wear.
