How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

Released in 2002 to celebrate Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher’s fourth World Driver’s Championship (his second for Ferrari), which he won the year prior in 2001, this Omega Speedmaster Racing is a unique watch with a tangible link to automotive greatness. Featuring the Speedmaster Racing’s case and movement, this timepiece is delineated from the rest thanks to its stunning racing dial and unique caseback featuring several references to Michael and his status as the F1 World Champion with his signature proudly sitting at the center of the caseback. Building onto its racing DNA, the timepiece’s black dial also features a subtle chequered pattern throughout, which complements its red and white luminous hour markers and the large "1" found at the one o'clock position highlighting Schumacher's overall position as the Drivers' Champion. Limited to 11111 units, this rare yet familiar design is a brilliant example of Omega’s love of tasteful and carefully executed limited editions, a balance they struck wonderfully with this timepiece.

THE DIAL

Sitting below its hesalite crystal is a black dial with a subtle chequered pattern that calls back to the black and white flag used to mark the start and end of a race in Formula 1 - which the race winner is often said to "take." Beyond that, the ref. 3519.50 also boasts red and white indices which match Ferrari's colors.

THE CASEBACK

Individually numbered and bearing Michael's F1 World Champion status and his signature, this caseback is a far cry from the caseback generally found on the Speedmaster Racing.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.

Condition

Watch is in excellent overall condition. There is minor surface wear visible, with some small marks on the case sides as well as on the other parts of the case. Dial near-mint with little to no signs of aging. The bracelet has 17 full and 2 half links total - 4 full and 1 half link are removable.

Our Perspective

Rightfully celebrating the legendary status of one of Formula 1's greatest-ever drivers, it is timepieces like this Speedmaster that maintains the historical link between the automotive and horology industries, a link that watchmakers and car manufacturers still keep alive to this day.
