Introduction
The Omega Speedmaster is easily one of the most iconic timepieces of all time. Sent into space on the wrists of astronauts for decades and even sent to the moon during the Apollo Moon landings, it has gone down as one of the most important wristwatches ever. With this strong link to space, Omega decided, in 2013, to pay homage to the cartoon character Tintin from the “The Adventures of Tintin” comic book series. In the seventeenth volume of the series, “Explorers on the Moon,” Tintin and his friends went on a journey to the moon in a red and white chequered rocket. Inspired by this story, Omega decided to create a variant of the Speedmaster that featured this same pattern on its dial. While not an official collaboration with the character like their famed Snoopy series, the Tintin Speedmaster has become a legendary timepiece thanks to its uniquely colorful dial, which also references the Speedmaster’s original designation as a watch to be worn by car racers.

THE DIAL
While it is black like most Speedmaster dials and it features the same layout, the Tintin's dial is clearly unique thanks to its red and white chequered racing pattern that lines its periphery.

THE CONSTRUCTION
While its dial tells a different story, the Tintin retains the Speedmaster's classical 42mm construction with its twisted lyre lugs, pump pushers, and black bezel.

Condition
Watch is in excellent overall condition. Case exhibits some wear, with a few scratches and marks visible on the case as well as bracelet and clasp. Crystal has some minor surface scratches. Dial near-mint with no signs of degradation. Bracelet has 12 links, 4 of which are removable. There is little to no stretch in the bracelet.
Our Perspective
A distinctively unique variant of the Speedmaster, the Tintin remains a favorite amongst collectors thanks to its red and white chequered dial and unofficial link to yet another iconic comic-book character.
