Introduction
Released in 1957 and based on their earlier chronographs from the 1920s and '30s, the Omega Speedmaster is one of the most iconic chronographs ever. Named after the purpose of the tachymeter along its bezel, the Speedmaster was designed for race car drivers and pilots to time events and make rapid calculations. While these adrenaline-fueled activities might not be for the faint-hearted, they weren't what made the Speedmaster so iconic - that was its use in space and on the Moon. Following a gruelling series of tests with several competing brands, the Speedmaster debuted in space as a piece of NASA standard-issue equipment during the Gemini program of 1965. Today the Speedmaster has many forms, with the Speedmaster Reduced being one such design. A rather luxurious take on the Speedmaster Reduced, the ref. 175.0033 that we have here boasts an 18kt yellow gold construction that has taken the Speedmaster’s typical 42mm diameter and downsized it to 39mm. Sporting a golden dial for a completely monochromatic aesthetic, this neo-vintage Speedmaster Reduced is the perfect combination of luxury and everyday casual wearability.

THE DIAL
A signature design element of the Speedmaster Reduced, the ref. 175.033's subdials are spaced ever-so-slightly further toward the dial's edge than the Speedmaster Professional.
THE CONSTRUCTION
Boasting a luxurious 18kt yellow gold construction, the ref. 175.033's case takes the Speedmaster Professional's iconic design and shrinks it from an imposing 42mm down to a universally-wearable 39mm.

Condition
The yellow gold case is in excellent condition, showing some scratches and nicks. The display case back is also in excellent condition. The black bezel has a couple of minor marks, but its edges remain sharp and well-defined. The champagne dial is generally outstanding, with some discoloration visible on the lume plots. The crystal shows a number of scratches. The watch is fitted with a leather strap and a plated Omega buckle, which exhibits significant wear to the finish. Please note that watch ticks at time of cataloging, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
