Introduction
Sharing an Italian heritage, flair for the unique and a famed sense of craftsmanship, Panerai and Ferrari began a collaboration in 2005 for Panerai to create a whole host of timepieces under the Ferrari brand. Following the end of Girard Perregaux’s licensing agreement with Ferrari in 2005, Panerai’s then CEO, Angelo Bonati, reached out to Ferrari and had a meeting with Jean Todt to see if the two Italian powerhouses could join forces, and that they did. As a result, Panerai created a whole host of distinctly Italian timepieces for the famed automaker, such as the Scuderia Chronograph, the Scuderia Rattrapante, the Scuderia Granturismo Chronograph and the Scuderia Automatic that we have here. Made of stainless steel and powered by Panerai’s automatic cal. OP III movement, the robust and capable Scuderia Automatic ref. FER00002 featured a two-tone black on black dial with yellow accents indicative of the color that has long been used for Ferrari’s iconic prancing horse logo. Measuring 45mm in diameter and 16.5mm tall, the resulting stainless steel timepiece is a visually distinct and imposing watch that embodies Ferrari’s spirit as an automaker that doesn’t shy away from embracing their own tradition, much like how Panerai stuck to their guns and created a watch that fit their design language just as much as it fit Ferrari’s.

THE DIAL
Retaining no remnants of Panerai's branding on its two-tone black-on-black dial, the ref. FER00002 embodies Ferrari's distinctive aesthetic. Still a Panerai at heard, it boasts a running seconds subdial at 9 o'clock, a signature of the Italian watchmaking giants.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Featuring a large and loud 45mm stainless steel case, the ref. FER00002 very much fits within the spirit of the incredible presence that Ferrari communicates through their cars and the overaching style of the 2000s.

Condition
Watch is in very good overall condition. Case shows moderate signs of wear, with scratches and marks visible and a few dings as seen in the images. Crystal has a few minor surface marks visible.
Our Perspective
A loud and proud watch with a clear link to Ferrari's aesthetic thanks to some subtle design choices that don't belittle Panerai's contribution, the ref. FER0002 is unapologetically bold.
