Introduction
Released as one of the earliest Vendome-era Panerai models, the PAM004 is an iconic piece of Panerai history, with Paneristi clamoring over it thanks to its standout black PVD-coated case. Within the model's timeline, there lies several series that indicate different years of production, such as the original A-Series from 1998, which we have here. Desirable for its legacy as the original, it is also sought-after due to its stunning tritium dial. Tritium, a radioactive substance that Luminova soon replaced during the production of the B-Series variants, is famed for its signature yellow patina. This aesthetic is impossible to replicate and exists as a hallmark of the A-series PAM004 and a handful of early B-series models, that were produced before Luminova made its way into the B-Series.

THE DIAL
The "T SWISS T" dial is in mint shape, with no visible flaws. The tritium on the dial has aged to a pleasing dark tone. Although the hands are original tritium, they have aged to a contrasting hue, possibly due to the use of a different material.

THE ERA
This particular A-Series PAM 004 bears the case number A0968/1500. 1500 pieces encompass all 6502 cases, indicating the total amount of production across 3 different models (PAM 1, 3 and 4). Collectors believe that the earlier A series modes fitted with tritium dials are the most collectible Panerais' of the Richemont era.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

Condition
The overall condition is excellent. Original early A-Series dial has perfect and beautifully colored tritium markers. The PVD-coated case is in very good condition, with only a few minor scratches on the bezel, midcase, and top right lug. Watch comes with its original straps and original "two screw" tang buckle.
Our Perspective
Collecting is all about the details, right? True Paneristis' will appreciate all the little details of this full set example. Original tritium dial and hands, the 2-screw buckle, early (not pictured) thin one-piece outer black box, and an unused coramid second strap- its all there. We all know the early Panerais' are the best ones, especially the PVD models. Highly coveted since new, this one in its seldom seen completeness, is a true anomaly.
