Founded in 1996 by Michel Parmigiani, thanks to the support of the Sandoz Family Foundation, Parmigiani Fleurier has quickly become one of the quiet giants of exquisite Swiss watchmaking. Thanks to their connection to the Sandoz family, Parmigiani Fleurier has been able to draw from technical resources that rival those of the biggest brands in the business. With access to Vaucher Manufacture, suppliers of movements to Richard Mille, Hermes, and other powerhouse brands, Parmigiani Fleurier certainly has the watchmaking heft behind them to perform just as well on the international stage as anyone else, even if their name isnt as recognisable as some others. Offered here, we have one of Parmigiani’s best-known watches, the Toric, thanks to King Charles of England, who is often seen spotted where his example. Launched in 2024, the Toric Petite Seconde debuted as a modern take on one of the brand’s most classic watches, with its 40.6mm 18kt rose gold case featuring thicker lugs and an intricate coin-edge bezel that combine to serve as an update on the collection’s previous case design. Matching its new case is an elegant frosted “sand gold” dial with a wonderfully dressy aesthetic that comes from its relative subtlety and classical three-handed design, one of which is a small seconds hand at 6 o’clock, which clearly influenced the model’s name.

Taking a classic and modernizing it with new detailing for its case and display, the sand gold Toric Petite Seconde shows that brands don't need to reinvent the wheel when they have something strong and worthy of keeping.
