Pascal Coyon Chronometre Series 1

How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

Part of the watchmaking industry’s recent wave of independent artisanal watchmakers, Pascal Coyon has grown from a watch and clock repairer in Bayonne, in the South West of France, to a fully-fledged watchmaker designing and creating his own watches. Following his decision in 2012 to create his own chronometer wristwatch, in just 18 months he had his first prototype. Blending high-quality work with a traditional aesthetic at an affordable price, Coyon created the Chronometer that we have here. Powered by a heavily modified Unitas cal. 6498, Coyon has focused on optimizing aesthetics to create a timepiece that is elegant and refined. With polished bevels, curved bridges, and an impressive level of finishing throughout, Coyon’s cal. 1900 is a marvelous piece of horology. With just 60 movements created, 20 each made of either yellow gold, pink gold, and silver – the Chronometer is a rare bird indeed, no matter the configuration. With its brilliant white dial featuring a red 12, large crown – both customizable elements, and pocket watch-inspired stainless steel case, the Chronometer is a beautiful watch deserving of Pascal Coyon's work, energy, and effort.

THE DIAL
THE DIAL

Featuring a stunning white lacquered dial with a subtle inset subdial, blued steel Breguet hands, black Arabic numerals with splashes of red throughout, the Chronometer's dial is entirely refined and classical.

THE MOVEMENT
THE MOVEMENT

Powered by a heavily-modified Unitas cal. 6498, the cal. 1900, the Chronometer's movement is the embodiment of Pascal Coyon's inspiration with it drawing direct aesthetic similarities to the iconic Longines cal. 19.70 and a stunning frosted-gold finish.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.

Condition

Watch is in near-mint condition, showing only gentle signs of use. There is some minor oil seepage visible on the edge of the movement close to the 4 o'clock lug.

Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.

Our Perspective

A wonderful expression of contemporary independent watchmaking, the Chronometer blends traditional aesthetics with modern construction to perfect effect. The movement is absolutely stunning, putting to shame many watches that cost significantly more.
