Introduction
Launched in 2000 to commemorate the new millennium, the Patek Philippe ref. 5100 forms part of a four-piece limited run with an 18kt yellow gold variant of 1500 pieces, and three other metals, 18kt rose gold, white gold, and, of course, platinum, totalling another 1500 pieces. 750 of these 1500 pieces are in rose gold, 450 in white gold and 300 in platinum. Powered by an entirely new, at the time, chronometer movement with an impressive 10-day power reserve, the manual-wind cal. 28-20 represented a first in watchmaking as this rectangular movement featured a power reserve indicator and subsidiary seconds dial along with being issued a unique rating certificate issued jointly by the C.O.S.C. and the Geneva Seal Institute. With its elaborately designed 18kt white gold case flaring out at its center and featuring a gentle curve that wraps around the wrist, the ref. 5100G is a splendidly comfortable timepiece, as it wears just as it is styled, with class and elegance. Inspired by the mid-century ref. 2554, the ref. 5100 is a heritage-inspired timepiece with a classic feel and aesthetic. Featuring a gently-textured blue dial with applied Arabic numerals and indices along with its dauphine hands, this timepiece is stunning, rare, and well worth some serious consideration by any seasoned Patek Philippe collector. As a way to ensure that this reference is never produced again, Patek even went as far to destroy the tools used to make the 3000 examples so as to guarantee that even if a later revival of this model was to be made it would still be different.

THE DIAL
Featuring a gently textured blue dial with applied Arabic numerals and triangular indices, the ref. 5100G alludes to its eponymous 10-day power reserve through its indicator at 12 o'clock, which is mirrored by a running seconds subdial at 6 o'clock.

THE REVERSE
Featuring a commemorative exhibition caseback with a sapphire crystal to allow a view of its manual-wind movement, the ref. 5100G displays an incredible level of finishing across the bridges, gears, and baseplate of its manual-wind cal. 28-20 movement.

Condition
Watch is in new unused condition. It was single sealed in the original Patek plastic sleeve until it was cut out to be photographed for this auction. Original hang tag is still attached. Watch comes with original anniversary double box and booklet but no original papers.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
Boasting everything a collector could look for in a classically-inspired Patek, the ref. 5100G is both spectacularly rare as a commemorative timepiece and a wonderful example of Patek Philippe's craftsmanship with its manual-wind movement, elaborate case, and stunning blue dial.
