Introduction
Launched in 2000 to commemorate the new millennium, the Patek Philippe ref. 5100J forms part of a four-piece limited run with an 18kt yellow gold variant of 1500 pieces, which the ref. 5100J is, and three other metals, 18kt rose gold, white gold, and platinum, totalling another 1500 pieces. Powered by an entirely new chronometer movement, at the time, with an impressive 10-day power reserve, the manual-wind cal. 28-20 represented a first in watchmaking as this rectangular movement featured a power reserve indicator and subsidiary seconds dial along with being issued a unique rating certificate issued jointly by the C.O.S.C. and the Geneva Seal Institute. With its elaborately designed 18kt yellow gold case flaring out at its center and featuring a gentle curve that wraps around the wrist, the ref. 5100J is a splendidly comfortable timepiece, as it wears just as it is styled, with class and elegance. Inspired by the mid-century ref. 2554, the ref. 5100J is a heritage-inspired timepiece with a classic feel and aesthetic. Featuring a gently-textured silver dial with applied Arabic numerals and indices along with its dauphine hands, this timepiece is stunning, rare, and well worth some serious consideration by any seasoned Patek Philippe collector.

THE DIAL
Featuring a gently textured silver dial with applied Arabic numerals and triangular indices, the ref. 5100J alludes to its eponymous 10-day power reserve through its indicator at 12 o'clock, which is mirrored by a running seconds subdial at 6 o'clock.

THE REVERSE
Featuring a commemorative exhibition caseback with a sapphire crystal to allow a view of its manual-wind movement, the ref. 5100J displays an incredible level of finishing across its bridges, gears, and baseplate.

Condition
Watch is in like new condition. Appears to be virtually unworn. This lot was previously listed on Loupe This but was withdrawn because the papers that came with the watch did not match. The watch is now listed as "watch only" and comes with no accessories.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
An exquisite example of Patek Philippe's craftsmanship, and spectacularly rare as a commemorative timepiece, the ref. 5100J has everything a collector could look for in a classically-inspired Patek, with its manual-wind movement, elaborate case and stunning dial.
