Introduction
Debuting in 1950 and remaining in production until the late 1950s, the Patek Philippe ref. 2460 is a beautiful example of the typical luxury wristwatch that was popular at the time, as post-war modernism began to take off as the over-arching design language. Presenting itself as an understated wristwatch, the ref. 2460 features a simple ebony-colored dial with gold triangular indices within a punctuated minute scale that allows the dial to blend into the timepiece's stunning 30mm 18k gold case. With the lines of its perfectly circular mid-case remaining uninterrupted, the ref. 2460's faceted downturned lugs add a contrasting sense of angularity to what is otherwise a perfectly round design. With its blue center-seconds hand providing a pop of color, the ref. 2460 quietly hints at the popularity of using contrasting colors within post-war modernism while still retaining Patek Philippe's air of grace, decorum, and sophistication.

Condition
The overall condition is excellent. The original silver dial still maintains a strong, raised Patek Philippe enamel signature. No evidence of any degeneration is present. Case is crisp and lugs are full, with sharp edges and a strong hallmark on the midcase. The watch exhibits a beautiful rainbow patina thruought. The Patek Philippe strap is slightly worn, and the tang buckle is not original.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, an alternative leather strap to the existing exotic skin version, shall be provided.
Our Perspective
The ref. 2460 is an ideal representation of the mid-century Patek Philippe aesthetic. Seemingly simple, however upon closer inspection the faceted lugs are clearly visible and add a bit of flair to its otherwise understated design. This particular example features a beautiful rainbow patina on the case, indicative of the watch having been worn sparingly, and carefully preserved by its previous owners.
