Introduction
Long before Patek Philippe became synonymous with complicated wristwatches and highly coveted sports models, the Geneva manufacture had established an equally important reputation for exceptional jewellery watches. Throughout the twentieth century, Patek Philippe produced an extraordinary variety of elegant ladies' timepieces, combining miniature mechanical movements with precious-metal cases, intricately constructed bracelets and carefully selected gemstones. These creations occupied a fascinating space between traditional horology and haute joaillerie, reflecting an era when a watch could be appreciated as much for its craftsmanship and decorative beauty as for its mechanical sophistication. During the 1960s and 1970s, the manufacture's jewellery watches became particularly expressive, embracing refined proportions, elaborate gold bracelets and diamond-set cases that combined contemporary elegance with the timeless appeal of traditional Swiss watchmaking.
The ref. 3355/1G is a particularly attractive example of this tradition, combining an elegant 24mm round case with an integrated 18K white gold bracelet and a striking diamond-set bezel. Brilliant-cut diamonds encircle the dial, creating a brilliant contrast with the restrained silvered display and its applied white gold baton hour markers. The simplicity of the dial allows the elaborate setting to take centre stage, while slender baton hands reinforce the watch's understated elegance. Its integrated Milanese-style mesh bracelet continues the jewellery aesthetic, flowing directly from the case and creating a seamless appearance on the wrist. Beneath the dial sits a manually wound mechanical movement, demonstrating Patek Philippe's commitment to traditional watchmaking even in its most decorative creations.

THE DIAL
The silvered dial features applied white gold baton hour markers and matching slender hands. The minimalist arrangement allows the diamond-set bezel to remain the principal decorative feature. The overall composition reflects Patek Philippe's classical approach to ladies' jewellery watches.

THE CONSTRUCTION
The 24mm round case is crafted from 18K white gold and surrounded by a diamond-set bezel that introduces a distinctly jewellery-inspired character. Its compact proportions and polished surfaces provide an elegant setting for the silver dial.

THE MOVEMENT
The ref. 3355/1G is powered by a manually wound Patek Philippe calibre 13-5, a compact mechanical movement featuring 20 jewels. Its miniature construction allows the watch to retain elegant proportions despite its elaborate precious-metal case and bracelet.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The 18K white gold case shows surface scratches and small nicks, with some marks around the case opening points from previous openings over the years. The diamonds and their settings on the bezel are all in excellent condition. The silver dial shows a few small surface marks, while the hands remain very clean. The integrated 18K white gold bracelet shows light surface marks, with a well-defined Calatrava Cross emblem on the clasp. The bracelet measures approximately 6¾” in length.
Our Perspective
The ref. 3355/1G beautifully illustrates Patek Philippe's expertise in jewellery watchmaking, combining a restrained silver dial with a brilliant diamond-set bezel and intricately woven white gold bracelet. Its elegant proportions and traditional mechanical movement make it a particularly attractive vintage creation.
